What is your favorite place to use a baby carrier?

Attention all Parents, Grandparents and anyone out there that uses a baby carrier, we want to hear from you. We want to know what is your favorite place to use a baby carrier?

Is it just around the house while doing the every day things? Is it while hiking, or going for walks? Here are some ideas from our customers.

“I just wanted to write to you to tell you how much I love my CuddlyWrap™!!! I actually work in a baby store and out of all the products we sell, the cuddlywrap is not only my favourite, but one that I’m very passionate about. I wear it at least 4 days a week and have been doing so since my baby was newborn…in fact, not even 2 weeks after having her, I was walking in the Relay for Life…a 12 hour walk-a-thon. I have tried so many different carriers out there and nothing matches in comfort and closeness that you get with a cuddly wrap. Nothing compares to the way it evenly distributes the weight so that I don’t end up with back pain (something I get with those other carriers out there). On days where I’m having problems getting stuff done, I pop her in the cuddlywrap and get it done. When I want to go for a walk, I find myself putting on the wrap, versus taking the stroller. I just love my wrap!!!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out and about and people comment on it, or ask how it works and there I am, in the middle of the mall food court, showing people how to put it on and putting my baby in and out to show how easy to use it is. People can tell how much I love it…it’s hard for me to not show how much I love it!!! Not only do I love it, but my baby girl Juli loves it too. She will be one this month, and she still loves being in it (facing me even!). It calms her down right away and eventually she puts her head down and falls asleep, and that, is just the best feeling in the world.

Thank you so much for making such a great product! I will continue telling people how great it is.

“Thank You for making a fabulous product. My husband and I love our kokopax and so does our 9 month old son. We use the backpack while making dinner, cleaning the house, picking berries, going for a walk…everything! The backpack is light, durable, comfortable, and cute. We’ve received many compliments on it.

Thanks for making our life with a baby a bit easier!”

Kimi

“The kokopax carrier has been fantastic during our travels in Asia, especially during a recent trip to the far corners of Bali where strollers are not practical at all. It’s easy to take along on a bus or in a cab in our home town of Hong Kong and is comfortable for 6’2″ dad, 5′ mom, and 25 pound baby!”

Kevin

“The Belle Baby Carrier makes life possible.  Because of Belle, baby James is able to help me vacuum, clean the kitchen, finish Grad-school, and climb through lava tubes.

Thank you Belle!”

Baby Carriers and Baby Slings

Baby wraps and baby carriers are great for keeping your baby close while still getting things done.

There are a lot of great products available from Around My Baby, but it can be difficult to know which one is best for you. If you’re looking for a good, comfortable product to help you get things done while still carrying your baby around, we have plenty for you to choose from. Here are a few things to know if you’re trying to decide whether to get a baby carrier or a baby wrap.

Baby Carriers
Baby carriers are popular products because they are comfortable and easy to learn to use. They offer some versatility in how you carry your baby, though not as much as a baby wrap offers. They are designed to be comfortable for both you and your baby, and they come in trendy designs.

Once you’ve used your baby carrier a time or two, it is easy to put on and take off. They are designed for the express purpose of helping parents securely carry their babies without tying up their hands, so you can be assured that you are using them correctly and that you and your baby are safe and comfortable.

Baby Wraps
Baby wraps are generally more versatile than baby carriers because you can tie them in many different ways to carry your baby in different positions. A baby carrier usually limits carrying positions to one or two, but wraps allow you to tie it in dozens of ways to accommodate your growing baby.

However, with this versatility comes a sharp learning curve. In order to make sure your baby is safe and a certain position is comfortable, you have to learn exactly how to tie the wrap into that particular shape. In this way, it takes a little longer to learn how to use a wrap than a carrier. Many parents feel that’s OK, though, because they aren’t limited by the placement of buckles and straps.

Giveaway Winner Update

Carissa won our Belle Baby Carrier last month, and she’s had plenty of chances to try it out with her little ones. It looks like the baby carrier is a hit! Here’s what she had to say:

(Remember you can still get 10 percent off the Belle Baby Carrier and other products until the end of the month with the code 10off511)

This picture is from my brother's graduation. I needed to haul both my kids into the building and then hike back to the car, but there was nowhere to store a stroller once I was in the building, so my baby carrier was perfect.

Where to begin…I LOVE this baby carrier!

My bruised legs are a thing of the past! The Belle Baby Carrier is about a million steps up from baby’s car seat and better than any other baby carrier I’ve used.

I have owned a baby wrap in the past, but it took a really long time to get my baby in and out. Her weight wasn’t distributed evenly which gave me a lot of back pain, so I never used it.  This baby carrier is completely different! Every piece that touches your body and your baby is very well padded and soft. It has mesh fabric to keep you and baby cool and the criss-cross straps relieve pressure on your back and shoulders. It reminds me a lot of how my baby’s weight is distributed when I’m pregnant, especially when she is facing me.

She has fallen asleep several times in this carrier and the extra attachment for head support is great for keeping her comfortable. It’s awesome for a sick, whiney baby and I think it would be a lifesaver for a mom with a colicky, fussy newborn.

It’s really easy to put on after the first time of adjusting the straps; I’m down to about 20 seconds. And the most important part, my little girl loves the Belle Baby Carrier! Whenever she sees me put in on she squeals! She loves having a bird’s eye view of the world and kicks her legs and laughs almost the whole time–so I think it must be pretty comfortable for her!

It frees up my hands to chase around my toddler and I don’t have to worry about my baby tipping when I bend over or lean to the side; she is completely secure.  My toddler loves that she gets to walk instead of ride in the stroller.

Some of my favorite places to take the Belle Baby Carrier are the park, church, and short trips to the store.  It’s great for those stores that have narrow aisles. Next time I fly I will definitely use my carrier instead of dealing with the stroller hassle. It’s perfect for me because I have two kids and need an extra hand, but I think moms of one will still put some serious miles on it because it’s so convenient and comfy.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about it.  Out of all the baby gadgets; jumpers, walkers, strollers, high chairs, swings, this is probably my very favorite.  In my baby’s mind, it’s probably second only to her binky!

Thanks again!
Carissa

And … We Have a Winner!

It’s been a busy day around here, but I’m really excited to announce the giveaway winner! There were so many great responses. It was awesome to read about all you great moms who do so many fun things with your babies! And even if you didn’t win this time, you can still get a discount on Belle Baby Carriers and other products throughout the month by using the coupon code listed in our newsletter (subscribe using the form on the right of this page).

So without further ado, the random number generator has spoken. And the winner is comment number 19 …

Carissa who said, “Boy do I need one of these! I’ve got a 20 month old and a 7 month old (that’s right–13 months). My husband is deployed to Iraq and getting to and from church is a disaster. The little one is too heavy for her carseat so I come home each week with black, blue, and purple shins from it banging against my legs while I help the older one walk/carry her to nursery. Don’t get me started on Walmart trips and other excursions! :) I would LOVE to be able to put the baby in a carrier and not have to worry about her falling out or tipping while I chase around big sister, and I even might show my non-bruised white legs off in shorts this summer!”

Congratulations, Carissa! It sounds like you will put the baby carrier to great use. 🙂 Look for an e-mail from us requesting your shipping information.

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend. Look for more giveaways in the future!

How Long Can I Use My Baby Carrier?

Enter the Belle Baby Carrier giveaway here.

Belle Baby CarrierBaby carriers are convenient and offer a lot of benefits to both the parent and the baby, but many first-time carrier users have a few questions. Naturally, the health and safety of your baby are most important, and it’s good to learn as much as you can about our products before you buy them. But when you buy a product from AroundMyBaby.com, you can be sure we have tested the products ourselves and offer a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee on all products.

One of the more common questions parents ask is how long they can use our baby carriers to wear their babies. Obviously, they are not designed to carry an eight-year-old, but where is the line between child and baby? And exactly how big is too big?

Specific information is available for all our products on product pages, including how long the baby carrier will hold your baby. In general, baby carriers are safe to use until your baby is 20-30 pounds. At that point, though, you might not want to carry your baby around all the time anyway!

If you have other questions about our products, feel free to e-mail support@aroundmybaby.com. We are happy to answer any questions you might have.

Be Wrapped Up in Your Baby

Be wrapped up in your baby.

Enter the Belle Baby Carrier giveaway here.

The theme of Around My Baby is “Be wrapped up in your baby.” All the products we sell—baby carriers, baby slings, baby pouches, baby wraps and other baby products—help you take care of your baby and, more importantly, be absolutely, positivly wrapped up in her.

When you find out you’re going to have a baby, everything changes. Time you used to spend thinking about yourself is now channeled into your baby. Plans for the future shift to accommodate another teeny, tiny person. You worry about how you will take care of your baby, but those feelings are overshadowed by feelings of anticipation and excitement.

When your baby comes, those feelings are only intensified. And that’s where our products come in.

When you’re pregnant, you have your baby inside you. When you give birth, your baby is no longer dependent on you to provide oxygen and nutrients directly into its little body, but it still relies on you to keep it healthy. And plenty of snuggling definitely helps.

Baby carriers, slings, pouches and wraps let you hold your baby close. And as many benefits as these products have, they’re really about keeping you wrapped up in your baby.

Absolutely, completely, positively wrapped up.

Benefits of Using Baby Carriers

If you’re looking for the Belle Baby Carrier giveaway, click here.

Baby Carriers
Baby carriers are great for both Mom and baby.

When you’re getting ready to welcome a little one into your home, there’s no end to the things you could buy. Your baby will need a car seat, a stroller, a crib, clothes, and toys, not to mention a (seemingly) never-ending supply diapers, formula and fresh onesies. So why would you add a baby carrier to the list?

As important as all of those things are for your baby, baby carriers have unique benefits you can’t get from other products for both Mom and baby. Here are just a few:

Physical contact. When your baby is a newborn, he’s trying to adjust to life outside the womb. Having him with you in a carrier allows your baby to hear the beat of your heart and feel warmth from your body, just like he is accustomed to feeling.

Free hands. When you have a new baby, all you’re going to want to do is snuggle. But baby or not, you need to get things done at least once in a while. With a baby carrier, you can hold your baby close while still doing the dishes, folding laundry or working on the computer. This will help you feel more accomplished and give you more patience as you see to your baby’s needs.

Prevented crying. Babies cry in order to communicate a need, but holding your baby in a baby carrier will help you anticipate your child’s needs before she cries. You may be able to feel her stomach growl or feel her relax as she gets tired. Knowing these things ahead of time can help you see to her needs before she becomes so uncomfortable she starts to cry.

Social development. As babies grow older, they begin to develop social skills. They become more aware of people around them and learn to speak. Holding your baby facing forward in a baby carrier can help stimulate this growth. Instead of sitting in an isolated car seat, your baby will be able to see out and look around while you walk around the park, do your grocery shopping or visit neighbors. This can help them better observe social interactions and develop their own skills more quickly.

Giveaway: Belle Baby Carrier

Happy April! Hopefully, summer is well on its way wherever you are. Spring has been teasing us around here, but we’re hoping the snow will melt (yes, snow…) and the warm weather will come to stay!

In honor of this yearly miracle, we’re hosting our first giveaway. Hooray!

This month, we’re giving away an awesome Belle Baby Carrier. We love these carriers because they grow with your baby—when she is just a few months old, you can keep her warm, wrapped up and close to your heartbeat, just like she was in the womb. But as she grows, you can turn her around and let her see what you can see. The Belle Baby Carrier also has:

• Head support that is detachable so it grows with your baby.

• An easy-to-use buckle system that is both secure and comfortable for your baby.

• A design that allows direct contact between mom and baby for comforting closeness.

And there are LOTS of ways to enter. Each of these will get you one entry.

  1. Leave a comment telling us what you will do with the Belle Baby Carrier.
  2. Subscribe to our monthly newsletter by e-mailing newsletter@aroundmybaby.com, then comment and tell us you did.
  3. Blog about our giveaway with a link back to our site, then leave a comment with a link to your post.
  4. Share the giveaway on Facebook, then leave a comment letting us know you shared the love.

There you have it—four possible entries! We will choose a winner on April 28, but even if you don’t win, we’ll still have a little something for those who subscribed to the newsletter. Stay tuned.

OK. Ready, set, go!
